Neocons smell blood - "Attack Iran"

There is some question about Israeli attacks on Hezbollah as a planned setting of the stage. The Lebanon invasion has been in the works for over a year but self-interest alone, possibly misguided, could explain that. The only argument against the attack on Iran soon would be any evidence that the hawks in the administration foresee the dangers. I haven't seen any evidence of that. Akeel Shah is more sanguine about a real war expanding to engulf the Middle East, he counts on Iranian restraint.

Jim Lobe also writes that experts say that the Israeli - Hezbollah conflict is likely to boost the chances of US military action against Iran.

Our old friend Jorge Hirsch has been pushing the Iran war story for months and his latest, which I linked before, says that nuking Iran is not off the table.

How do the people dismissing the possibility of an attack on Iran expect the present 'stand-off' to be resolved?

Breaking News
- Rolling Stone is now reporting a group of senior Pentagon officials worked with an Israeli group to promote a plan to attack Iran at the same time the US was preparing to attack Iraq. Since then the Bush administration has accepted all of the neocon recommendations regarding Iran.
