General Pace was either very ignorant or very political on Meet the Press

General's Assessment of Iraq Questioned
The comments drew criticism that Gen. Peter Pace is glossing over problems in the three-year-old U.S. campaign.

"Why would I believe him?" asked Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., a major critic of the Bush administration's handling of the war. "This administration, including the president, (has) mischaracterized this war for the last two years."
Think Progress could hardly believe it either.
Some 1,500 Iraqis have reportedly died in sectarian violence in the last two weeks. Iraqi insurgents continue to carry out roughly 70 attacks each day, and the number of Iraqi battalions capable of fighting without U.S. support has fallen to zero.

In other words, says Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Peter Pace, "everything you look at" is "going very, very well."
