TEC becomes much more toothless, open season on buying politicians

Already one of the least effective ethics boards in the nation the TEC has ruled amounts of campaign donations do not have to be specified. If a candidate or official gets cash from someone reporting it as CASH is sufficient. A check can be specified as CHECK. This is glaringly stupid and probably illegal decision on the part of the all GOP appointed board. I think word of this ruling will quickly spread to all the sleazeball politicians.
The Texas Ethics Commission decided Friday that public officials who receive cash or other gifts don't have to disclose the value, stunning open-government advocates.

The seven commission members, appointed by the governor, lieutenant governor and House speaker, wrestled with disclosure laws that compel public officials and candidates to report gifts over $250. The law calls for a description of the gift, and some commissioners said indicating simply "cash" - without an amount - satisfies the statute. - DMN.
Thanks for Off the Kuff for catching this.
