New Sharp Texas Tax Plan provides less money for schools, is more regressive

Off the Kuff has a good collection of links.

Charles also had another post of every vote counting.

I have experience with the Stanley-Harrison races and cases.
In the city's May 7 general election, Stanley won by one vote: 525 to 524. A recount produced a tie, and Harrison won a subsequent runoff, 591-590.

Stanley took the matter to court. In October, state District Judge James Mehaffy ruled that two votes were cast illegally for Harrison in the runoff, making Stanley the winner.

The appellate court on Thursday upheld the trial court's decision, despite Harrison's contention that the Early Voting Ballot Board had erred by excluding three votes in his favor.

I was involved with the campaign and the runoff and you had the coulda, and shoulda, experiences. On the first election one person only voted because she was driven to the polls by a volunteer, when asked about it on the way back she said her husband had convinced her to vote for the other guy. We had someone else we were going to drive to the polls but she said she would go later and never showed up.

Every vote can count. I would like more ways your vote can count like proportional representation and election of the president by popular vote.
