DATE: Wednesday, December 6, 2005
TIME: 6:00 pm
LOCATION: CWA Local 6222 Union Hall, 1730 Jefferson in Downtown Houston.

Admission is free and so is the dinner. A cash bar will be available. Please bring non-perishable food items for donation to the SEARCH Homeless Project. We will also be collecting items suitable for sending to the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan for the holidays. We have received requests from them for decorations, party items, letters, holiday cards to the soldiers, cookies, candies, and toiletries of any kind.

Gerry Birnberg - Chair, Harris County Democratic Party:
Locally, we Democrats have much to be proud of:

Tom DeLay no longer sits in Congress. NICK LAMPSON does!

ELLEN COHEN won overwhelmingly in a district thought to be 60% Republican.

HUBERT VO convincingly retains the seat he won two years ago by defeating a powerful ally of the speaker of the Texas House of Representatives, the chair of one of the most influential committees in the Texas House.

SCOTT HOCHBERG handily dispatched his Republican rival, in a district drawn specifically to elect a Republican to the state legislature.

ANA HERNANDEZ got more than 70% of the vote against a Republican opponent who had the backing of the Republican establishment.

JIM SHARP won Harris County, becoming the first Democrat to do so since 2000 and only the second to do so since 1996, a proving that judicial candidates can win county-wide in Harris County!
