HoustonChronicle.com - Poll finds Texans divided on school voucher issue

Four in 10 Texans support using tax dollars for private school vouchers while 47 percent oppose the idea, the latest Scripps Howard Texas Poll shows.

Public attitudes on the politically charged subject remain statistically unchanged from three years ago when 41 percent of Texans supported private school vouchers and 49 percent opposed them.

The random telephone survey of 1,000 adult Texans was conducted between Oct. 7-29. Its margin of error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.
