In Many Public Schools of the South and Midwest, the Paddle Is No Relic


A very interesting graphic here. The longest interview in the article is about a Texas school where it can be argued it is used appropriately. It is a parent and student choice after a series of warnings and only one of several options they can choose. I doubt that is the case in most schools. In the latest statistics available 1.4% of Texas students were popped in a school year. Mississippi leads with 9.1%, 28 states had zero and 14 more had less than 1%.
