Texas GOP to sponser Prez candidate straw poll this summer

Unlike the established presidential straw poll in Iowa, in which any registered Iowa voter can participate, the Texas GOP poll will be restricted to previous participants in political conventions. As many as 15,000 to 20,000 activists could participate, party spokesman Hans KIingler said.

Texas Democratic Party spokeswoman Amber Moon dismissed the GOP event as a "gimmick" designed to disguise a "lackluster field" of Republican candidates.

By restricting the poll to former convention delegates, Benkiser is trying to give the "extreme right" more influence in the selection process, Moon said. Recent Republican conventions have been dominated by social conservatives.
Rigging their own poll, not surprising.

Interesting, isn't it, that the only person you find to quote is the Democrat spokesperson.

After all, the GOP position on a GOP event cannot be important -- especially when there will be thousands of GOP participants in a major venue, not a handful in a broom closet like at Dem events.

This is a true Dafydd comment as I included a quote from the GOP spokesperson.

As to the other line, Democrats seemed to have just stuffed almost 22,000 people in one stadium in Austin in the rain. Let's see you do that.
