Capital Hill Blue, the oldest political news site on the net, has pulled two past stories for legal reasons, has been fooled along with other websites by a fake political professor, and can no longer confirm many of its stories of Bush and Cheney's drunken and erratic behavior. They are pulling or modifying a number of stories. The pulled stories about the President and VP may be from email sources the publisher and reporter Doug Thompson never met and cannot now verify. The listed information in his archives for these stories now says in part:
This article was based on sources that I thought were reliable at the time it was written. I have since learned those sources were not present at the events cited and were passing on second and third hand information that could not be confirmed. As an admitted alcoholic himself, Doug also felt he recognized the symptoms in Bush and had insight into his behavior that made him more willing to believe emails and sources that confirmed his beliefs. The publication had turned into more of a gossip tabloid passing along scandalous rumors from unnamed sources. For the rest of this summer Doug will not be posting his own stories or rants. The apology he offers is sincere and comprehensive. He should hurry back.
