Every week there are a few stories about the "socialist-communist" dictator Hugo Chavez of Venezuela and how the United States should do something about him. But there are no reports on the right-wing near-dictator of Columbia Alvaro Uribe and his close family ties to the narcotic traffickers. Instead he is praised as a model for Latin America by the SCLM establishment and five billion dollars of U.S. aid has been lavished on him since 2001.
