On Supporting the Troops
The Republican military blogger at the Washington Post is being vilified by the right for not supporting troops who say that American critics of the war should STFU.
William Arkin is, of course, correct. You can support the troops and not support the war. You can regret they are pawns for a gang of idiots who misuse them. You can sympathize that the more Iraqis they kill the more terrorists they spawn. You can even criticize troops who don't understand this and still be supporting the troops. You can do all this and some ignorant yahoos will say you are not supporting the troops. Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel. More correctly that should be false patriotism is the last refuge for those who have no valid arguments.
Do they no longer teach civics in high school?
Of course, Little Green Mad Footballers is behind this organized email campaign against him.
