With national stature candidates in the running, local candidates without massive fund-raising ability are dropping. Vilsak has some interesting comments. Low in polls in home state and inability to raise money after his big initial fund-raiser were the real reasons.
With another couple of million or public financing he would still be in. Do we really want public financing of primaries? I support public financing of the general election but why give people with no chance money even before they can get their party to support them.
